(Nigerian Songs Used On Social Media) 2020 was a year filled with a lot of entertainment for music lovers and social media users, Music challenges were the order of the day as they could either make or break a song.

While music fans were stuck at home due to the lockdown caused by the coronavirus, these challenges shared on social media apps like Instagram, Snapchat, Tik Tok, were used to kill boredom. In 2021, the challenges have continued to increase in number.

From the Slo-Mo challenge to the Buss It challenges,  Nigerians are creating mind-blowing content on a daily basis with music. Yemi Alade – “Single And Searching” ft Falz

We’ve seen cases where the oldest of songs or songs you wouldn’t expect being used for challenges. This happens when the concept of the song fits the idea of the challenge. Yemi Alade’s 2017 single “Single & Searching” which features Falz The Bad Guy resurfaced because of the trending Slo Mo challenge. 

Its lyrics, which is the typical scenario of a guy trying to woo a woman he is meeting for the first time is the main focus of the challenge.  “Hey excuse young lady lemme tell you something, Why are you shouting, Hello I’m talking to you what ok no problem. No just be going it’s ok ahn ahn wait na.”  Single & Searching” has now surpassed 10million views on Youtube since its reemergence on the internet.

You know how Davido likes to switch things up when it comes to challenges; there’s always a prize for everybody. The “Jowo” challenge is another  Slow-Mo Tik Tok that you can’t miss even if you’re not active on the internet. “One time three gbosa for the two person wey born you. Olamide and Omah Lay served it real hot with this hot banger off the “Carpe Diem” album. While this track was topping charts and amassing streams, Nigerians created a new challenge to enjoy it better. With the tracks in Naira Marley’s discography, you’ll think this would be another dance challenge but it appears the Marlians wanted something more thrilling.
